Subject: plumbing the mysteries

As part of our ongoing investigation into why the bathroom sink seems to get clogged again every few days, we sent a team of investigators deep into the piping that lies under the surface of the fixture itself.

What they uncovered was a piece of glass tubing, about 4 inches long, with a blue plastic collar about one inch from one end and the other end bent about 90 degrees at the tip.

Investigators have no clue what the function of this piece of tubing might be -- and if they have any speculations, they're keeping their mouths shut.

The piece of glass tubing will be available for public viewing on top of the sink (on the left side) until someone moves it or it falls down the drain again.

(Actually, it was after a particularly vigorous plunging session that I noticed something seemed to be bobbing to the surface -- "what the hell is _that_?" quoth I, and then lay patiently in wait until it bobbed again. Then I grabbed it, and the glass thingy is what I pulled out.)

Subject: recycling issues

The broken glass still hasn't been cleared out of the recycling bin by the front door. My understanding is that the recycling plant can't use broken glass, and we shouldn't be mixing it in with our recycling. Broken glass goes to the landfill.

I believe Angela said she was pretty sure who put it in there. She should probably get them to clean it out.

Thanks,

N.

Subject: travel again

The plan is to go up to NC once again on Friday (tomorrow) with the final load of LPs and maybe some boxes of books or whatever will fit that would be happiest inside but for which there really isn't room here (Hull Rd.). The paternal unit has offered additional storage if I need it, and I suspect I will eventually; the LPs aren't the only bulky things needing non-outdoor storage.

This, of course, is subject to the lack of any new disasters. (The financial one would seem to have been averted; only 1 NSF slipped through. Tomorrow's bank balance will tell if the deposit was received ok etc.)

There's an additional issue of the planned California trip, which was to have been July 27 - August 3. At this point, I truly don't know if I'll be able to go on it or not.

Livia: do I have any additional moving days in August to make up for July days lost because of the trip, if I do go along?

More later.

Onward,

N.
