The Dishwasher Problem

The narrower part of this slider (back/right) is supposed to attach to another very similar piece of metal in order to extend it. The attachment is via 3 spot-welds, and the welds all failed yesterday.

This slider belongs on the left; here's the right-hand one, still attached properly:

...and here's the best solution I've been able to come up with for re-attaching it: literally a paper-clip.
