rearranged version of the CD artwork

The AnnAid CD was a project I did with mutual friend Karen Schiff in 2002 when Tigger had been diagnosed with cancer but was still in treatment with some hope of survival. The idea was to help cheer her up by giving her our singing to listen to, and also by knowing that a lot of other people -- everyone to whom we gave copies of the CD -- would be thinking of her as well. It apparently ended up being 2 CDs, according to the production folders I have, but I don't remember that detail. (Hopefully we'll uncover some copies of the actual CD...)

I did the audio production, artwork, and CD printing (the labels were stickers done on an inkjet).

The recording appears to have taken place on 2002-07-20; I do remember that it was at Karen's apartment in Clemson, SC, and it was dark by the time we finished up and I drove back to Athens -- where I was either still living in the Red House or had moved to the Grievers' house, having not fully moved back to Durham yet.

Music Credits

  • Karen: guitar, singing
  • Woozle: e-piano, singing

Songs

I'm not sure yet exactly what ended up on the CDs; further digging is needed... but here's a list of what we recorded, with track numbers according to file/folder names:

track # Title Original Artist Links Notes
01a American Tune Paul Simon lyrics; 2024 remix: YouTube This originally segued into the next song, which is why the remix ends so suddenly.

02 Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd
03 Brain Damage Pink Floyd
04 Handy Man (James Taylor style) Wikipedia
05a Movin' Out Billy Joel
05b And She Was Talking Heads ...at least, I think this is where it ended up

Somewhere in there was also:

  • partial silly cover of "Stayin' Alive" (Bee Gees), because that's what we wanted Tigger to be doing
  • a couple of other silly tracks that Anna Nikola and I had done together; not sure where they ended up in the list:
    • "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart", by Anna
    • "He's Stupid!", which was just me looping Anna's exclaimed two-word opinion of Rod Stewart and adding a harpsichord waltz behind it
