A link to keep track of: https://studentaid.gov/debt-relief/application -- apparently they did a limited beta launch, but it's closed again for now.

Things I could work on today:
- log-cutting
- chip ice out of Darth Fridge's freezer
- Normally I chip it out when water starts to drip out, but several weeks ago I discovered that I could put a small plastic plate under the corner it drips from, and that stops it from being a nuisance... but it's probably getting thicker and thicker inside the freezer now.
- update the bank balance spreadsheet
- pay some credit cards
- I think there's only one that's actually going to be due before our next deposit, but there are some automated payments that come out and that will be a problem as things stand.
9-ish
I noticed a smoky smell, as I was working. After a brief check to make sure it wasn't coming from the basement, I went outside and found there was just this cloud of light smoke kind of hanging out behind the house, especially down in the power right-of-way. I went down there to see if I could figure out where it was coming from, but no source was apparent. It seemed to be coming from uphill, but somewhere past next door. Presumably someone started a fire, and wind conditions just happened to drive the smoke down towards us.
The light was interesting, so I took some photos.

Some more outside photos, again because the light looked interesting from the kitchen window as I was doing dishes.

I did update the bank balance earlier. Haven't tried doing the necessary head-scratching to figure out what cards to pay and how much.
Spent most of the morning working on vbz.net revival and a bit of time working on the folder-spider code for FTI etc. Progress, albeit largely below the surface.
I was informed that they'd opened the debt relief form again, so I ducked in and managed to get applications in for both B and Z... so yay! \o/
2:30-4:30
Dropped the Gang off at Westover Park for a Pokémon Go Community Day, worked at home while they did that, then picked them up afterwards.
7:00ish
...aaaaand apparently our dishwasher needs repairing again. (So much for "the lonely Maytag repairman"; this is the second time, and it's only 5 years old.) I argued with myself about whether to try repairing it, but decided that I was already too overloaded to take it on, as much as it would have been nice to possibly save the money on labor.
Chipped the ice out of the freezer, because apparently enough ice had accumulated that the water was dripping out in a different place. It was indeed rather on the thick side. I keep feeling like I should be making donations to Antarctica...
