==About==
This was [[Maidi]]'s last printer. It is kind of a shiny piece of crap. I hope it wasn't me that bought it, but it might have been.
* Under Windows, it kept locking up and needing to be power-cycled before it would start working again.
* Has ''no'' on-device controls or displays at all (aside from 3 LEDs that sorta-kinda indicate status in various ways); everything goes through awful Windows app. (It might be possible to run this under WINE, but I haven't tried.)
* Under Linux:
** Seems to work ok as printer (can't be sure without putting in new ink, and there's no way to tell it to clean the heads or do an alignment).
** Shows ink levels and test-page print function, but no other maintenance controls.
** Recognized as scanner, but won't actually scan.
* Probably more useful for parts, e.g. there's at least one full-color LED and of course the scan head & hardware.

About

This was Maidi's last printer. It is kind of a shiny piece of crap. I hope it wasn't me that bought it, but it might have been.

  • Under Windows, it kept locking up and needing to be power-cycled before it would start working again.
  • Has no on-device controls or displays at all (aside from 3 LEDs that sorta-kinda indicate status in various ways); everything goes through awful Windows app. (It might be possible to run this under WINE, but I haven't tried.)
  • Under Linux:
    • Seems to work ok as printer (can't be sure without putting in new ink, and there's no way to tell it to clean the heads or do an alignment).
    • Shows ink levels and test-page print function, but no other maintenance controls.
    • Recognized as scanner, but won't actually scan.
  • Probably more useful for parts, e.g. there's at least one full-color LED and of course the scan head & hardware.

Specs

  • type: inkjet printer/scanner
  • make: HP
  • series: Envy Pro
  • model: 6458
  • s#: TH11D4B26Z
