Me being me, I didn't finish with the standard methodology of taping the cracks, then spackling and painting the whole thing. We decided we liked the color of the bare drywall (blueish because it's special water-resistant drywall for bathrooms, which I figured might be good to have in place if the roof ever leaks), and I screwed in 1x4 pine boards over the cracks. In some far-off hypothetical future where I have "spare time", I'll polyurethane the boards.
