Nick,
I have printed this email and will take it to Bubba. He was here for a while last night but if I remember correctly, he left about a half an hour before you sent this. He will be here again tonight. If I need to get info and bring it back to send you, I will. Trying to correspond with Bubba this week has probably been difficult. As you know, we were hit with some pretty heavy duty possibilities and were caught unprepared. The sense of urgency around this project generated a massive response from friends, family members and volunteers. I would estimate that over 300 man hours have been put into "We House" this week in addition to the hours put into the tractor trailers by the folks from Kelly Diversified. On top of that... we had to meet with the executors of the "Ashford Estate" to "propose a proposal." Things are looking good on that front, as well.
We are still dealing with the after effects of 4/15/99. I feel as though we've been treading water and gasping for breath every step of the way since that time. People who are looking to invest time, money and "in kind" donations want to visit where you work. It's called a "site visit" and is mandatory for most major funders.
Regardless of what happens with Kelly Diversified, we're moving forward with our proposals to "The Ashford Estate" and a group of 8 members of the Ashford Family. We will also be sending out some major proposals that could make a big difference in how things are for all of us. This preparation work has been a necessary piece in this process. The fact that all of this came up at a time that you would be out of town has, I'm sure, been inconvenient for all concerned. You had every right to be gone and we had every right to be busy... Bubba has worked all night on several nights to make this all happen. It's interesting that you had the opportunity to do a walk through before you left... it lends itself to a before and after return visit...
I will be back with you later, and I suspect Bubba will, too. I've had to stop for rest and some sleep more often than Bubba has because of my health and responsibilities with the Task Force. I have taken the opportunity to fill you in because I'm sure that Bubba has had less time and where-with-all left to fill you in himself. He's been quite the hero on the home front... but probably kind of "AOL" from some standpoints (Yours, for instance).
You never answered my email about the finances... I'll take that to mean we can handle things when you get back. Bubba will probably be here at Red House and back to this reality over this weekend.
We can talk more later. Just wanted to give you an update. Also, the Red House lawn has been cut again and another dump run happened. We're getting close to being ready for the big give-away (maybe next week)! Progress is happening...
Hope you've had a nice Birthday Week...
Lynne

Bubba, Please re-send the list of what did and didn't come in; I need more info.
I have an order for the following, but didn't see it on your list:
No orders were found for the following, but they are on your list as ones that came in:
That's just the ones I got to in the first 20 minutes or so. Latest store info: go to http://vbz.net/cat to see new pages. (Ordering will not work yet, and no other pages point there yet.) Thanks, N. |
