Sunday, September 3, 2006 was the day of The Great Cat-Shit Closet and Under-Table Midden Cleanup. Also the bathrooms.
Random thoughts about work and stuff
Facts:
- The house needs more cleaning than it gets
- I could do more cleaning than I do
- Even with the cleaning I do, I still have very little time for my own projects
- I do this:
- most of the driving
- most or all of the dishes (Sandy sometimes unloads, or starts the dishwasher after I have loaded it)
- occasional help with paperwork
- occasional (but typically time-consuming) computer maintenance
- Sandy does lots of stuff too:
- prepares lunches/snacks for kids in the morning
- keeps track of kid-related deadlines (schools, camps, etc.)
- fills out all kid-related paperwork
I feel like offering to do more regular cleaning, but I am also reluctant to commit the additional time.
Questions:
- Is the extra cleaning something which I should do anyway?
- Who does it benefit, in what (approximate) proportions?
- Who "owns" the expenses caused by the children, including extra cleaning (the messes are primarily caused by them)?
