CFS in 1979-1982 felt almost magical, at least compared with the rigid structure and competitiveness at DA. I met people there who totally changed my life. (Athough some bad things happened, too, and they didn't handle Harena's crisis very well when she was there, but they at least erred on the side of allowing the individual to make their own choices rather than being heavy-handed and authoritarian.) It would also seem to have been very good for for Mel (Harena's eldest), who graduated from the CFS upper school in 2002(?), and Zander (age 7 when he first went there in 2004), who was not getting along very well at Hope Valley (Durham Public Schools). | CFS in 1979-1982 felt almost magical, at least compared with the rigid structure and competitiveness at DA. The Hypertwins have a long tradition with Carolina Friends School (usually abbreviated CFS). Woozle and Harena both went there for high school (1979-1982 and 1974-1978 respectively), as did Harena's older sister Kathy and younger sister Jenny and Woozle's sister Jessica and (briefly) cousin Neilly. Tigger also went there for a couple of years in the late 1970s.
Zander went there from 2004-2006. He also re-applied for 2008-9 after spending an enjoyable year at CPSC, but Duke School accepted him first (it was after the deadlines, so we had to take what was available).
