Over low heat (3 on the Magic Chef) melt:
1 pound 8.2 ounces vegetable shortening
Stir in & let plump:
1 cup raisins
Turn off heat & stir in:
Summer: ~8 cups cornmeal
Winter: ~4 cups cornmeal
1 cup chopped peanuts
Pour in molds (I reuse store-bought suet trays) and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. For fast cooling, 1 hour in freezer.
Optional: Add 1/2 cup cayenne if one has pesky squirrels
