Domain Name Squatting is when a company or individual registers a large quantity (often hundreds) of memorable-sounding domain names and offers them for resale at a significant markup (usually many times the cost of registration). This practice is thoroughly reprehensible, as it makes useful domain names effectively unavailable (without a significant budget) to those who would actually be doing something useful with them, while polluting the web with lots of pseudo-search-engine pages.
