The stem and fruit are very reminiscent of tomatoes, except the fruit is sometimes stripy and the stem has sharp thorns. I'm guessing they're some kind of wild tomato, probably poisonous.
Two other examples which seem to be the same species, found growing in the same strip:
All of these were found in the unpaved strip between the sidewalk and the road in front of Hypertwin Manor.
Submitted to iNaturalist. Tentative identification: Carolina Horsenettle, which is indeed quite toxic/deadly.
