  • Pick up 3 kids in the afternoon (roughly 3:00-4:00)
  • Some afternoon care, but this is flexible -- check with Dorothy to see what she wants, and we'll cover it
• June 20 (W):
  • Drop off 3 kids in the morning (roughly 7:30-9:00)
  • Afternoon is same
• June 21 (Th): same
• June 22 (F): same
• June 23 (Sa): any care probably optional (need to check...)
• June 24 (Su): any care probably optional (need to check...)
• June 25 (M): same as Friday
• June 26 (Tu): same
• June 27 (W): same

The basic routine for you will be first dropping off Benjamin downtown (anytime between 7:45 and 9:00), then Zander out at CFS. Unfortunately, we're not sure how much margin there is before that time; hopefully we'll find out on Monday, and I'll update this. If you drop off Benjamin at 8:30, though, you should get to CFS right around 8:55 or so.

• Benjamin goes to daycamp at Central Park School for Children, in downtown Durham.
  • Drop-off: 8:00-9:00
  • Pick-up:
• Zander goes to daycamp at CFS, out towards the wilderness between Chapel Hill and Hillsborough.
  • Drop-off: 8:45(?)-9:00
  • Pick-up:
• Josh goes to daycamp at Forest Hills (Mel can walk him there, so you don't have to worry about this).
  • Drop-off: 7:30-9:00
  • Pick-up: 4:00-6:00

Directions

Morning (drop-offs)

From Dorothy's to Central Park:

• Go left on Shepherd St.
• Go straight several blocks to Morehead
• Turn right on Morehead
• Turn left (at 2nd light) onto Duke St.
• Duke street goes up, crosses Chapel Hill St., starts heading down, crosses railroad tracks, crosses Main Street, Morgan Street - sign on the building says "West Village" - take the next right, on Fernway (if you miss Fernway, take the next one - Corporation - directions are the same)
• Go to the end of Fernway (ends at Morris St.)
• Turn left on Morris Street
• Go down to bottom of Morris, pass old Durham Bulls ball park on right, take right immediately after that - Geer St.
• At next light (Foster), turn left -- school is first large brick building on the right. Park in front of building and walk Benjamin in (Zander usually comes along).

from Central Park to CFS

• Continue straight pas Central Park School and go to traffic light; turn left onto Trinity
• Go through next traffic light, under railroad bridge, to next traffic light (Duke St.)
• Turn right on Duke Street
• Go about a mile to bridge over I-85 -- keep in right lane and get onto I-85 South
• Go about 5 miles; you'll pass the following:
  • Guess Rd. exit
  • Hillandale Rd. exit
  • Hillsboro Rd. / Chapel Hill (15-501 bypass) exit
  • Cole Mill Rd. exit
  • highway goes down to 3 lanes
  • sign: entering Orange County
  • highway goes down to 2 lanes
• Take next exit: West 70 (exit 170)
• Go to first traffic light (Mt. Herman Ch Rd / Pleasant Green Rd.)
• Turn left, onto Mt. Herman
• Mt. Herman goes up and around to the left, under I-85, over railroad tracks, crosses (I think) NC 10, winds around to the left some more, and finally comes to a flashing red light at Murphey School Road
• Turn right on Murphy School Rd.
• Take the next left -- Friends School Road.
• FS Road goes down for awhile, then starts up -- CFS is soon after, on the right.
• Zander goes to the "Quakerdome" pavilion -- Zander can point the way (there should be signs too).

from CFS to Chapel Hill (assuming you'll want to go back to familiar territory next)

• Go right from the CFS driveway (onto Friends School Road)
• FS Road ends at Mt. Moriah Road; turn right.
• Drive several miles, winding around a lot, until you get to the stop sign at NC 86 (Allen's BBQ is on opposite side)
• Turn left on NC 86 and drive several miles past farms and small lakes; this eventually becomes MLK Drive aka Historic Airport Road when it crosses I-40.

Afternoon (pick-ups)

I'm assuming you've figured out how to get back to CFS. For mapping purposes, their address is 4809 Friends School Road, 27705 (ph. 383-6602).

Benjamin doesn't have to be picked up until 5:30, but if you wanted to save a trip and get him straight after Zander, here's how to get from CFS to Central Park:

from CFS to Central Park

• Turn left from the CFS driveway onto Friends School Road
• FS road ends at Murphey School Road; turn right
• At flashing yellow light, turn left onto Mt. Herman (or it might be called Cornwallis at that point)
• Cross Rt. 10, over the railroad tracks under I-85, to the first traffic light
• Turn right onto East 70
• First left onto I-85
• Pass the following:
  • Cole Mill Road exit
  • pass under 15-501 exit
  • Hillandale Rd. exit
  • Guess Rd. exit
  • Gregson St. / Northgate Mall exit
  • pass under Duke St. / Gregson St. bridges
• take next exit -- Roxboro Rd. / Avondale Rd.
• Go right at light onto Roxoboro Rd.
• up the hill, around the weird S-curve (changes to Mangum St.), through one light (Trinity Rd.), and right at the next light (Geer St.)
• Keep on Geer St. to the next light, which is Foster
• Turn right on Foster -- school is near the top of the hill. Park in front.

from Central Park to Dorothy's

• Continue past Central Park, and turn left at light (Trinity)
• Stay on Trinity through the first two lights (Washington St. and Duke St.)
• Turn left at 3rd light (Gregson St.)
• Go several miles on Gregson: up through the "Brightleaf District" (2 traffic lights), cross Chapel Hill St. (traffic light), cross over 147 (Durham Freeway), though about two more traffic lights, then turn right on Wells and take the first left onto Shepherd St.
