CD Hot Pad

Materials needed:

  • 2 oz Sugar & Cream Crochet Cotton
  • 1 CD (CD Rom Disc - new, used or unwanted)
  • size H crochet hook
  • needle

This is made in two pieces that are then joined. The CD is sandwiched between the two sides making a very thick and protective hot pad for any surface or table.


Back:

Begin by making ch 4 and join with sl st to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 14 dc in ring. Join with sl st top of ch 3. (15dc)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same stitch. Make 2 dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to top of first dc. (30dc)

Round 3: repeat Round 2. (60dc)

Round 4: Dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to first dc. (60 dc)

Round 5: Sc in each dc around. Join with sl st to first sc and finish off. (60sc)


Front:

Begin as back and continue through Round 2.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same st. Ch 4, sk next dc, *sc in next dc, ch 4, sk next dc. Continue from * around and sl st in top of first ch 1. (15 ch-4 spaces)

Round 4: Now working behind the loops, ch 1 and sc in skipped dc of Round 3, ch 3 and make 3 more dc in same stitch. Make 4 dc in each skipped dc of Round 3 and sl st to top of first ch-3. (60 dc).

Round 5: Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to first. (60 dc)

Round 6: Sc in each dc around. Sl st to first sc, then ch 1. (60 sc)

Round 7: Joining Round! Now hold the back and front sides together with wrong sides facing in, sandwich the CD between the two sides. If there is writing on the CD be sure to place the written side towards the back so it will not show. Now that you are holding the CD sandwich, working through both sides, sc in each sc around. (60 sc). Sl st in first sc.

Round 8: Ch 3, 2dc in same stitch, * ch 2, skip 2 sc, 3 dc in next sc. Complete from * around. Join with sl st to first dc.

Round 9: Sc in each stitch around and join with sl st to first stitch. Make a hanging loop by ch 8, sk 1 sc and sc in next sc. Finish off.
