Domain Name Squatting is when a company or individual registers a large quantity (often hundreds) of memorable-sounding domain names and offers them for resale at a significant markup (usually many times the cost of registration). In the meantime, those domains are usually parked to web pages designed to look like search engines.

Update 2005-07-03: I am proposing a Domain Resale Code of Ethics for domain resellers to follow.
