So... the latest tidbit on Josh is this: we found out last week that Residential Services require two sources of funding. Medicaid covers one part, but the other part is paid for by local funds of some kind, which (of course) are a bit scarce. So he could still easily be turned down for the home we found, regardless of how clear the need might be.

  • Phyllis says: That is the biggest piece of [expletive redacted] I have ever heard. You have got to be kidding me. When my son went it was all Medicaid and his SS. Please let me know if I can help in any way. I have no money, but I would be glad to help call or whatever. This is so upsetting, but maybe something good will happen. Do you have a case worker?

Josh was just turned down for SSI -- is that what you mean by SS? We're appealing it. The excuse was that Sandy has too many resources, which is technically true -- but if Josh will be living away from home, shouldn't they be ignoring her resources and just looking at his?

Yes, he has a caseworker; she's overworked and not excessively motivated, though her heart seems to be mostly in the right place. She went out of her way to put together as much documentation as possible for this application, so she gets brownie points.

Someone to make phone calls would be absolutely GOLDEN, when the time comes.
