General rule for replying: look at who the message is from; your reply will go to that address by default.

The way the list is set up now, it shows the "from" as whoever sent the message, so if you want the reply to go to the team, you have to change the "to" in your reply to team@vbz.net -- else it just goes back to the sender. (Which your replies both did.)

I'm not sure how to set it up so that it shows the list address in the "from"; will research that when I get a chance. That's probably part of the set of features which allows me to make lists automatically subscribable/unsubscribable by request, etc.

Lynne, here. I confused about how the "Team thing" is set up... I thought that if we replied to something from within the "team thing" that it would go to all of us in the circle, i.e. Nick, Bubba, Lynne.... I replied to something this morning and it never showed up on mine or Bubba's computer. Nick, did you get it? Is it supposed to go to all three or do we need to forward each post to all of us? How does it work? This is a copy of what I sent....

Notes

  • "teamspam@spamvbzspam.spamnet" was a forwarding address which sent copies to Bubba, Lynne, Nick, and possibly Sandy

Subject: coupla items

(Haven't had time to read Lynne's response yet; saving it for when I have concentration time.)

Coupla things --

1. Reminder: I need to know what bears we still have, so I know what we need to order from 3rd party suppliers.

2. Is there a package on the way, and when are we expecting it, and who is it from? I can't remember if it was MT or LB, or if I'm just making it up.

Thankx & TTFN,

N.

Subject: another vbz list

I have created another email list, fansspam@spamvbzspam.spamnet. This address is for the "outer circle" (or should that be "inner circle"?) of those who are interested in and support my/our entrepreneurial activities. It includes everyone to whom I sent the earlier memos about strategy.

Responses to mailings should be sent to me; I will include relevant snippets in subsequent mailings. ("reply" will send a reply to me, not the list.)

(For those of you on the "woozletracker" list -- this isn't the "verbose woozletracker" I mentioned -- but it's something, right? (-; )

The sales figures for June are in. Here's the rundown for the past 13 months:

Month Year Charges Cost Ship %
6 2001 $1,160.30
7 2001 $1,174.89
8 2001 $2,513.41 $198.41 7.89%
9 2001 $932.41 $121.95 13.08%
10 2001 $712.47 $130.57 18.33%
11 2001 $2,188.21 $240.5 10.99%
12 2001 $5,854.49 $710.3 12.13%
1 2002 $2,309.40 $77.76 3.37%
2 2002 $466.83 $82.09 17.58%
3 2002 $1,397.06 $148.51 10.63%
4 2002 $1,122.67 $128.49 11.45%
5 2002 $1,112.85 $112.23 10.08%
6 2002 $2,035.61 $238.37 11.71%
  • "Charges" is the total of all credit card sales (with refunds deducted). It does not include check and cash payments, but these are generally minimal.
  • "Cost" is the total amount spent on shipping orders for that month -- not necessarily the same orders as were charged, but mostly.
  • "Ship %" is the cost of shipping expressed as a percentage of the total charges.

We do not yet have figures for $ spent on stock. This is obviously a very important set of numbers to have, and I expect to be able to track this within a few months if no more disasters happen. We do have the data recorded, but I don't have any way of quickly condensing it down. (Plan is to use the "Money Tricorder" application mentioned earlier.)

General status: we are (obviously, given the sales figs) up and running at the new location. The main stumbling block is that the boxes of stock are all in two rather large piles -- and given the robbery and some other rearrangements shortly before that, we no longer know what we have or where it is (or why we're in this handbasket). Complete inventory is needed. This won't be possible until we have some stock shelves -- but moving the rest of the stuff out of Red House still has priority, as we need to clear out the remainder of about 8 years' accumulated Schtuff in about 30 days. Fortunately, we have found storage locations for most of it. (Anybody want to buy a baby grand piano?)

All for now.
