I thought at first it was Erika but it might have been C. Either way, I had a hard time dealing with it when any of my new friends seemed hard to reach; it took me years to learn that most people just do that sometimes, and that they have good reasons for it. If either of the others had approached me wanting to talk about Jenny, I'd have been delighted – as I was when Sandy first emailed me in 2001 for that very reason; it's what we initially bonded over. 	When it came to disagreement over strongly-held positions, I hadn't had good behavior modeled for me. There came a point in one of our arguments where I realized that the yelling I was reflexively doing was both disrespectful and unnecessary; this was one of the many ways in which this whole experience opened me up to a more positive view of life. Dealing with other people is a ''hell'' of a lot more pleasant when you don't have to yell in order to be taken seriously.
