I am interested in discussing my account further. You currently show $522 due <br />
on my account; my total emergency room bill at Duke was in excess of $7000, <br />
and I am sure Duke will be passing the remainder of this on to you over the <br />
next few months, so there is quite a lot more than $500 to settle up.<br />

Unfortunately, I am in a serious hardship situation now, largely due to caring <br />
for an autistic teenager, but I am hoping to have some income again soon with <br />
which to start paying off my expenses at Duke Health.<br />
<br />
At the moment, however, I could not make more than a token monthly payment on <br />
the order of $10 or so.<br />

Please let me know if that will be acceptable, or if you need any further <br />

At the time I thought this was actually quite promising -- it was more than I initially said that I could pay, but not at all astronomical, and with an apparent promise that it would never grow any larger (per month, anyway) until paid off.<br />
